Who can become a Conwy Tourism Ambassador?

However anyone with an interest in the scheme or wishes to deepen their knowledge on all that makes Conwy a special place are welcome to participate and become an Ambassador.
What are the online training modules?
We have produced a range of free interactive online training modules to increase knowledge about Conwy County.
We have produced modules on different themes to allow you flexibility in completing all modules or just those relevant to you. The modules are a mix of text, images and films. The first 6 modules are:

- Welcome to Conwy County
- Towns and Villages
- Welsh Culture and Language
- History of Conwy County
- Heritage Sites in Conwy County
- Walking in Conwy County
The next 6 modules being developed are:
- Cycling in Conwy County
- Adventure and Activities in Conwy County
- The Arts in Conwy County
- Food and Drink in Conwy County
- Coastal Conwy
- Leisure and Recreation in Conwy County
These modules will be released from mid-May to the end of June 2021.
Will the modules be focusing on specific subjects?
Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC) has been successful in receiving funding for this project through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government, and a contribution from CCBC has ensured that the whole of Conwy County has been included in the modules.
Are any of the modules mandatory?
Yes, you must complete ‘Welcome to Conwy County’ and ‘Towns and Villages’ before accessing any other modules of your choice.
Will there be different levels of training?
Yes, three levels.
- Bronze – Complete 3 modules
- Silver – Complete 6 modules
- Gold – Complete 9+ modules
How many online modules do I need to complete to become a Conwy Tourism Ambassador?
In order to become a Tourism Ambassador (Bronze), you must complete 3 modules (2 mandatory and 1 of your choice).
Will the modules be assessed?
Yes, basic testing to confirm your learning will take place throughout the modules. The ‘pass’ score is 80%. There will be opportunities to re-take any of the modules.
How long will it take to complete each module?
On average, each module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete (although some maybe slightly shorter/longer).
Are the modules available in Welsh and English?
All the modules will be available in Welsh and English.
Please be sure you complete the whole course in the language of your choice, because we cannot guarantee to keep your scores if you swap languages.
Will there be any promotional materials available for completing the modules / becoming a Conwy Tourism Ambassador?
Yes, the following are available for free –
- Certificates
- Pin badges
- Stickers for doors and windows
- Conwy Tourism Ambassador branding available on request for use in your marketing materials
Will there be any opportunities to go on learning journeys / face-to-face training to enhance the online training?
Yes – face to face training and learning journeys will be organised to complement the online learning and provide an opportunity for everyone to network with other Ambassadors, share best practice and feed into future tourism planning.
Will the modules be updated or new ones introduced?
Yes – modules will be updated as and when required. New modules will be introduced as required. The system will notify users when a module has been updated and if any new content has been uploaded.
Will any other online resources be available?
Yes – the website has a ‘Resources’ section where you can find a whole host of useful information and links to complement the modules.
